VELUX Model Home 2020
During 2010, VELUX will be building a semi-detached carbon neutral Model Home in Kettering as part of a series of experiments that will be carried out in five countries across Europe. This is part of the VELUX strategy to take an active part in developing sustainable buildings - the buildings of the future.
At VELUX we understand how important it is to ensure a healthy external environment, as well as focussing on an equally healthy internal one. In the EU today, we spend 90% of our time indoors so it is an absolute basic human right that our indoor climate is as healthy as the outdoor one.
Our philosophy is that one experiment is better than a thousand expert views, so not only will the VELUX Model Home adhere to the highest of eco-credentials, but will also be built so that it is easily transferable into the mass housing market. This new concept in carbon neutral living will reflect and respond to the three main principles - efficient energy design, high degree of livability and minimum climate impact.
