The VELUX Daylight Visualiser is a simple tool for daylight design and analysis. It is intended to promote the use of daylight in buildings and to aid professionals by predicting and documenting daylight levels and appearance of a space prior to realisation of the building design.
The VELUX Daylight Visualisers intuitive modelling tool permits quick generation of 3D models in which roof and façade windows are freely inserted. Other features include a surface editor, site specification as well as flexible view settings and multiple daylight parametrics providing accurate predictions.
The simulation output can show luminance, illuminance, daylight factor and daylight/sunlight animation.
The visualiser is a simple modelling tool for room and roof design and features:
The program uses this information to calculate the daylight conditions in the room. This can be depicted in the form of photorealistic images, from which both luminance and illuminance data can be visualised in the form of false colour and iso-contour images. In this way, the program allows important key variables such as the daylight factor to be calculated.
The VELUX daylight visualiser runs under the Microsoft windows XP operating system and can be downloaded free of charge from www.VELUX.com/viz. The website includes a number of tutorials and examples on what the application can do.
Daylight has a profound effect both on our immune systems, emotional stability, wellbeing and productivity.
